By all accounts, Hurricane Sandy was a storm like no other. We are happy to report that although some of our employees experienced significant property damage, everyone is safe. We hope that the same is true for you and your teams as well. We are very grateful to the city of New York and all of the first responders who did an outstanding job keeping us all as safe as possible. Our thoughts go out to everyone who is still in danger or without basic necessities.
Despite Hurricane Sandy causing unprecedented damage both to the City and to many major service providers in the North East, we don’t take this lightly and while ShoreTel Sky’s operations did not go as smoothly as we would have liked during the crisis, we will be spending time reviewing lessons learned and looking for ways to improve. Nonetheless, as the process of recovery begins, we’d like to provide a few helpful tips that our clients start to restore more normal operations.
As we mentioned in our post before the storm, Find Me/Follow me is a great way to make sure you will remain accessible even if you can’t get into the office. Setting your call screening preferences is easy. This video shows how.
The ShoreTel Sky Communicator is a very helpful desktop application that enables instant messaging and file sharing between colleagues. It’s also a great way to see if someone is already on the phone before making or transferring a call. The application is available free for ShoreTel Sky clients and can be easily downloaded from our support website.
The ShoreTel Sky Portal is the place to check and manage your voicemail if you can’t get into your office or don’t have your desk phone handy. You can also see any calls that you may have missed. If you haven’t used the portal before, this is a good opportunity to log in and explore how it might help.
