1) What are your fears about band practice. if any? What challenges do you think will arise?
I think it should be a fun activity to start with, so I don’t fear anything now. One of the challenges is to find agreement with least time spent so we can make more progress instead of idling.
2) What are the dynamics of your group likely to be like? Will a leader emerge? Will a diva emerge? Will it be you?
I anticipate different team members will have different level of skills in learning and playing their instruments. Our group tends to make decisions by democratic voting so there may not be a leader afterall, but who knows. Our lead singer has the potential to become a diva, not me.
3) Will your band bond for the ages like U2? Take breaks like the E-Street Band? Be tumultuous like Van Halen?
We just get started. It is too early to see any sign of these predictions.
4) Will your band set ground rules to make collaboration easier? What will you do if a band member misses practice? Anything else?
Yes, the ground rules are: propose ideas then vote by all team members. We vote by multiple choices and the one with most votes wins. This works well and is fair so far. In case someone misses a practice I will play a recorded version (original or previous practice) so others can play along to practice.
