I’m finally seeing physical changes beyond the very short index and middle fingernails on my right hand — my left is getting callouses.
But that’s the only calloused part of the experience. The band is meeting weekly to bond and brainstorm possible songs, that we take back to practice individually. We’ll practice as a band starting in June or July, depending on vacation schedules.
My purchase of Rocksmith last week upped my practice time considerably. Rocksmith is Guitar Hero with *real guitars* (in my case, bass). It *is* more fun to just play a game than it is to decide “what to practice next”. But I’m looking forward to practicing together. Today, our singer and I had lessons in adjoining rooms. She could hear my scales, but she missed hearing my instructor and I trying to figure out the bass line for the song she was practicing, so I invited her in at the end of our lessons to hear… utter nonsense! It’s harder to play when nobody’s singing the melody, and everyone is watching, and I don’t *really* remember the bass line.
