It’s been quite an adventure learning guitar – my first experience with a musical instrument. After a few months of lessons and practice, it’s quite fun to take a guitar on a business trip. Especially if you luck out and go to the ILTA conference where there is a Rock Party theme. I brought my Fender guitar and rocked out in the booth. It was quite unique.
What also is unique is the experience working with other band members. Quite frankly, it is far more stressful than playing on your own. We have a small room in Sunnyvale that is so loud – it is almost uncomfortable. But it’s still fun to get the music to come together.
It’s not as relaxing as taking my little girl (my Fender guitar) on the hammock between the two trees in the back yard and just practising chords. So i’ll take the hammock anyday to keep the learning going strong, and enjoy the lessons with the team.
It’s really a life experience. Don Joos may be our CEO, but in my opinion, everyone is their own CEO. If you dont like what you’re doing, then there is only one person who can change it. And playing guitar is my CEO way of relaxing between the circus of emails every day. My wife the CFO is fine as long as I dont over my capital budget for a new Gibson Les Paul. That will require board approval and is likely to get shot down.
