Independent media firm Visiongain recently announced that the mobile VoIP market is expected to generate $2.5 billion of revenue in 2012. The firm asserted that the industry is currently at a crucial point in its development, since more consumers are using these services to save money but operators are trying to slow this trend and lessen usage across their networks.

"With virtually no comparable rival technologies, the only barrier to success lies with operator strategies. The modern VoIP call center is also expected to undergo significant changes in the near future. A report by Heavy Reading IP Services Insider suggested that the proliferation of smartphones and tablets is having a profound impact on current call centers, forcing companies to connect with their audiences through voice, social networking and instant messaging platforms. In the past, companies had separate apps for different purposes, but now customers expect to connect with organizations through any option.
