Companies like Telecom for Charity make giving back easy
Lucy Bernholz of Philanthropy 2173 came up with the the term “embedded philanthropy” to name the idea of making a charitable donation as “part of any other financial transaction, such as checking out of the grocery store and making a donation to diabetes care.” If you’ve bought a pair of TOMs shoes or a t-shirt from RED, you’ve already participated in embedded philanthropy.
This modern approach to giving makes it easy to do something good without much extra effort or thought. The days of the telethon are not over yet, but let’s face it, for most of us making a donation while we are buying something we want or need anyway is very appealing.
One organization, Telecom for Charity, is bringing this approach to business. Telecom for Charity works with businesses to select the best fit from a wide range of business phone systems, including ShoreTel Sky. Once the best provider to meet the client’s needs is selected and the solution is installed, Telecom for Charity donates 5% of the client’s monthly telecom bill to the charity of their choice. It’s a simple, built-in way of giving back.
